Thanksgiving is right around the corner, folks, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. When turkey day rolls around this year we’ll be sitting at the dining room table having just played, and in some cases sold out, some of our favorite venues in the country! We’re on the tail end of a run of shows that includes the Alabama Theater, the Tennessee Theater, the Tabernacle, and, of course, the original home of the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium! It’s an honor for any musician to play the Ryman, but to headline a sold-out show there is really something special. There is a tangible sense of great musical history in that place. That morning I walked onto the stage and felt the boards flex beneath my feet… the same boards that flexed beneath the feet of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Bob Dylan… the list goes on for days! It’s an amazing thing to be on a stage that so many musical legends shared before you. I must admit that while we were playing “Valley of Tomorrow” acoustic at the beginning of the encore I noticed the sweat dripping off my hat onto the stage, as it always does, and I was very pleased because it felt like we were making our mark there. It was truly an unforgettable evening. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us! I hope all of you feel as loved and blessed as we do right now.
