There are certain shows that I will always remember. Shows that, for whatever reason, seem special and just stick with me. Last night at the Georgia Theatre in Athens was one of those shows. I’ve always been a fan of that venue. When we were first starting out opening up shows around the Southeast, playing the Georgia Theatre was always one of my personal goals. We got our first chance a few years ago opening up for our good friend Will Hoge, and even back then the energy in that room was something special. When it burned down I was heartbroken because I didn’t think we’d ever get a chance to come back and headline, but thankfully it was reborn out of the ashes! That place is spectacular now! Such a great venue! Walking on to that stage last night was incredibly rejuvenating. We’ve been on tour for a very long time this year, and it’s been amazing, but we’re all feeling a bit run down. Playing to that ridiculous sold out crowd last night was exactly the shot in the arm we all needed to finish out strong. I know it’s cliché to say that we get as much or more from the audience as they get from us, but that’s truly how I felt about last night. Thanks to everybody for coming along with us on the extended songs and impromptu jams. We also played “White Fences” live for the first time, and it’s the first time a venue has given us actual medals for a sold out show! All-told, last night was monumental for me, and I can’t wait to come back to Athens and do it all over again. Thank you!
