We’ve seen from all the In Studio video blogs how creative the band is, taking coffee cans and sunglasses to get just the right effect in the background percussion of a song. So when they had the opportunity to team up with Kodak and their Super 8 Film team they jumped on it. Bonnaroo was the perfect opportunity to take full advantage of the retro-throwback look real film would give.
Here’s the copy and the video – let us know what you think!
NEEDTOBREATHE’s passion shows through on Kodak Super 8mm film!
The American rock band, NEEDTOBREATHE took Kodak Super 8mm film to document their experience at the 2012 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee this summer. NEEDTOBREATHE wanted to translate their rock and roll sound into a visual format and chose Super 8mm film as the canvas on which to display the energy of their show. In their own words, here’s why film captures their passion so perfectly:
“The songs on NEEDTOBREATHE’S “The Reckoning” easily translate in a live setting, something that is crucial to the band. The worst thing that could happen is you get done playing and people don’t think about you again. We’ll do whatever it takes to force people to make a decision about our band, whether they love us or not. It makes for more passionate fans.
The organic, vintage effect we desired can be achieved naturally without hours spent in digital post-production, with the additional bonus that each film is unique. On viewing the footage captured at Bonnaroo, there was
an overwhelming sense that Kodak Super 8 film had exceeded expectations, capturing Rock and Roll at its timeless, gritty, festival best.”
See for yourself!

This video was fantastic! Wasn’t sure if I’d like it, being Super 8, but it really fit the content, footage and music. I like that you all try new and different things! It keeps it interesting, and shows your versatility.
I first saw you all back in June of this year, and y’all rocked my socks off! You rolled back into town almost 3 months later and I made sure I was at the show. You did NOT disappoint! On one hand, I wish you had gazillions of fans-you deserve it. You’re THAT good, and folks NEED to hear you. On the other hand, I can get better seats if you don’t ;o)
I’m so thankful that you all have decided to follow the call. I’m SO impressed by the love and passion you put into everything you do. We, as fans, benefit greatly. We love you guys. Keep it up!
Oh wow!! I love it. Everything about it is awesome. The retro feel, Bear’s voice in the background. Awesome. You guys are the best band out there. Your concerts are phenomenal. Your songs are sensational. Not a day goes by without one of your songs in my head and in my heart.
Thank you for delivering MAGIC every time!!
More than musicians. True artists. The format, the music, the band = a great match.
This is amazing. Perfection. It does, in fact, capture the true spirit of southern rock and roll.

Can’t get the old-timey song out of my head. Can’t figure out if it’s truely an old song or a new one y’all are working on. Hope it’s on the next record.
Can’t wait to see you next week in College Station. It’ll be the first time I’ll be able to see you without standing on my feet. My feet thank you.

I first saw you guys on Craig Ferguson Late Show, singing Drive all Night, have since bought your album. I live in Tasmania, Australia, dont suppose you will be coming down under?? I am telling everyone about how great you sound and look and I know Australia would love you, there is no band like you here.
thanks for being the most amazing band my eyes have ever seen and my ears have ever heard. your music has done nothing but make my life so much happier! i have seen you twice….and that is not enough. i could watch the reckoning concert every night. you’re music puts happiness in peoples hearts. i was in huntsville last wednesday night. there was a father and son that sat in front of me. they knew every word to every song, and i watched the boy look up at his dad several times in pure amazement. then i could look to my left and see couples falling more in love listening to the sweet words from song to song. you touch so many people in so many different ways. i wish i could tell you directly how thankful i am that you guys are a part of my
life. thanks for making me happy, i love you. each one of you are perfection.
